Christy Ng

Founder at Christy Ng

She grew up in Kluang, Johor, working weekends as a waitress in shoes so poorly made they left a callus the size of a 50-cent coin on the ball of her foot and instead of simply accepting that good shoes were only for women who could afford them, she decided to build them herself. Christy Ng is the founder of one of Malaysia's most beloved homegrown fashion brands, a biotechnology graduate who walked away from a Swiss pharmaceutical company, armed with nothing but RM10,000 in savings, a laptop, and the kind of quiet, iron-willed conviction that the fashion industry has absolutely no idea what to do with. What started in her mother's living room in Petaling Jaya has grown into 12 stores across Malaysia, a global e-commerce platform serving customers in over 50 countries, and a name that has collaborated with the likes of Yuna and DHL, all while keeping production proudly, stubbornly Malaysian. She once opened her first retail store right next to Vincci when everyone told her she was crazy to do it, and she proved every single one of them wrong. This episode is for every woman who has ever been told she was too small, too inexperienced, or too ambitious to pull it off because Christy Ng has spent over a decade proving that the right pair of shoes really can take you anywhere.
